Maxwell Ford invites you to understand why your car air conditioning is not cooling correctly.
Your car’s AC stopped working because of a failing compressor or a freon leak. While these may be the simple to spot reasons for your AC not working in the car, a bad belt or a dirty cabin air filter may also be the culprit. Regardless of how or why it’s super disappointing when cold air isn’t on to combat hot weather outside. Don’t sweat it though, because our well-versed auto technicians are trained to easily resolve any problems and are there to get your car ready long before the first heatwave arrives.
The most likely reason the AC isn’t working is because your vehicle’s AC is leaking. The vehicle’s AC system uses freon to cool the ambient air temperature and produces some refreshing cold air. Whenever there is a freon leak on your car there is no way to cool the air. Another reason for your air-conditioning not blowing cold air is because the car is a hybrid. The air-conditioning system needs the engine power, meaning if your car is in EV mode then the engine will stop running and not power the AC.
If your AC is on and the fan isn’t working then you may have a defective air-conditioner fuse. Fuses help protect components of a vehicle from a possible power surge and even though it may just need to be repaired, however, if your air-conditioning fuse keeps popping then it’s possible there could be a much larger issue. A low level of air-conditioning refrigerant or a possible leak could also be the issue, which our very skilled technicians can repair.
If you’ve seen any damp spots in or around your car recently, that could be a result of an AC leak in your vehicle. For any AC to push cold air into your car, it has to place all of that moisture it absorbs from outside and should go through the evaporator drain pipe. This could also be caused by the AC Refrigerant level being too low which leads to the evaporator coils freezing up and an overflow of condensation. You need to keep a lookout for faulty seals in the air-conditioner compartment or the air-conditioner’s air filters if the issue continues to occur.
